In this eSchool News article, Todd Burleson, the “Willy Wonka of school librarians”, from Hubbard Woods Elementary in Winnetka, Illinois, describes how he transformed a traditional library into an IDEA Lab.
He put together a lab including cross-curricular library curriculum that supports classroom teachers’ lessons, marrying the idea of books and bytes. Daily activities include robot bowling, using robots to paint pictures, and filming and producing music videos staring robots!
From a dream binder to an IDEA (Innovation, Design, Engineering, and Art) Lab, complete with flexible furniture, robotics (KIBO!), engineering tools, iPads, laptops, and sewing machines.
