STEAM Curriculum Resources with KIBO
Welcome to the KIBO STEAM Curriculum Resources page. This page collects the videos, links, and other resources mentioned in our curriculum booklets to make it easier to get started using KIBO to teach STEAM to your young learners. It also provides information on standards alignment.
More about our STEAM Curriculum Resources
All of our KIBO STEAM curriculum is backed by 20 years of research and has been designed to support early elementary educators and students. Our KIBO curriculum covers robotics, coding, and computational thinking — in addition to providing opportunities for integrating these topics with arts and literacy activities. KinderLab Robotics now offers more than 160 hours of standards-aligned robotics curriculum across its various books.
Our Goal – To Get You Started with KIBO on the Right Foot
We love to help teachers implement KIBO! Please check out our Teaching Materials catalog and our Professional Development offerings for early educators. In addition, below are some helpful ideas, videos and links to get you underway in using KIBO within your STEAM Curriculum.
And we’d love to hear from you too! If you have ideas, experiences, or activities you’d like to share, please visit our KIBO Resources website. You can share your stories and read stories from other educators.
Standards Alignment
Our KIBO curriculum guides include alignment to Common Core and to evolving engineering and CS standards. We are actively expanding our library of standards mappings for our curriculum. Below are additional mappings that may be helpful for you:
- General overview of academic frameworks addressed with KIBO robotics (incl. Common Core, NGSS, CSTA CSK12)
The following standards mappings relate to Growing with KIBO, our 60-hour K-2 core curriculum:
- Growing with KIBO mapping to CSTA K12 Standards (about the CSTA Standards)
- Growing with KIBO alignment to ISTE Standards for Students (about the ISTE Standards)
- Growing with KIBO alignment to Nevada CS NVACS (about the Nevada Standards)
- Growing with KIBO alignment to Iowa CS Standards (about the Iowa Standards)
- Growing with KIBO alignment to Illinois Draft CS Standards (about the Illinois Standards)
- Growing with KIBO alignment to Georgia Standards of Excellence in CS (about the Georgia Standards)
The following standards mappings relate to Creating with KIBO, our abbreviated core curriculum:
- Creating with KIBO crosswalk with MA Digital Literacy and Computer Science Standards (about MA DLCS)
- Creating with KIBO mapping to Idaho Content Standards (about Idaho ICS in Computer Science)
The KIBO Zoo
The KIBO Zoo is a “ready to run” 6-8 hr unit, broken into 4 lessons. This is a shorter unit compared to our core STEAM curriculum, Growing with KIBO – A Robotics Curriculum for Pre-K to 2nd Grade or our research-based curriculum guide, Creating with KIBO. The activities are integrated around an animals theme. Our goal with The KIBO Zoo is to help teachers get started with KIBO. The 20-minute video to the right introduces KIBO and provides an overview of the KIBO Zoo curriculum.
